The  Ranch

Nestled in the Wet Mountains, the Dilley Ranch Subdivision is located 19 miles east of the town of Westcliffe, CO.  Carl Dilley purchased the 2800 acre ranch in 1938 from the Smith Estate.  The Dilley family owned and operated several cattle ranches, one of which was in Montana.  The family resided on its ranch in Canon City, and relied on horses to commute to the Dilley Ranch in the Wet Mountains.  At one time, there was a ranch house located on the north end which was occupied by a hired man to oversee the cattle.  The number of cattle run on the ranch was dependent upon the weather conditions.  After Carl passed away, his son Bob took over the ranching operations with help from his brothers until 1984.  In 1986, a partnership was formed between Carl's three remaining sons and one daughter (Bill, Jim, Jerry and Barbara).  In 1991, the siblings decided to subdivide the ranch into 80 35+ acre parcels.  The names of the roads within the subdivision were named after family members and the abundant wildlife, with the exception of Tibby Trail, which was named after Barbara's dog. 

The wildlife on the Dilley includes deer, bobcats, mountain lions, bear and elk and is a bird watcher's paradise.  Originally there were no elk on the ranch.  A small herd was brought onto the ranch in the late 60's and has grown exponentially.

The purpose of the DRPOA is to provide the best living conditions possible for Dilley Ranch property owners.  This includes protecting and enforcing the Covenants, maintaining and improving all non-county roads on the ranch, assessing property owners' yearly dues, and representing all property owners in matters of mutual interest.
